About Me
J. Howard Shannon is a writer and US Army Infantry Officer with over 25 Years in the military. He served two tours in Afghanistan – the first in 2005 with 3rd Group Special Forces and again in 2008 with the New York Army National Guard. He currently volunteers as an Assistant Instructor with Horses For Heroes – Cowboy Up! New Mexico Inc., a wellness and skill set restructuring program for OIF and OEF combat veterans. Shannon is the author of the short stories “The Jump”, “Red Flowers”, “The Dirge”, “Convoy Operations”, and “Brought Low.” He recently completed a novel, set in Afghanistan, that challenges the conventional notions of modern combat.
